Don't think you should try this at home...

I just had one of those wonderful flashbacks on an event I did in the fall and I wanted to share it with you! For Saira's 25th Birthday, she wanted an over the top GIRLY, laid-back affair with her closest friends. Fortunately, she chose me to make this idea come to life, and so the 25th Princess Birthday was created. Since almost everything was some feminine shade of pink, I was not surprised when she requested pink popcorn.

I wondered how I would do it, but I soon came up with a "good" idea one night when I was at home. I use an air popper when I eat popcorn so I used that. I sprayed it as usual with an olive oil spray; however, I colored the olive oil with a couple drops of red food coloring first. It worked like a charm! It looked really cute in the blue cups of "Princess Popcorn," but I don't think I'll be trying this again for good reason. My hands were stained an odd red color for about a week and I always had that "greasy hand" feeling.

So, you have been warned. There are ways to color popcorn the color you want, but try to find another way besides coloring olive oil spray; otherwise, you will have very bright and very soft hands from both the coloring and the spray. You have been warned!

Chic DIY Chandelier

When my husband came home from teaching at Lamar today, he told me about an interesting project he helped his students complete. Apparently, the students of Lamar High School have been collecting soda bottles for a special project to be displayed at prom this weekend. I just had to do some research to find out what he was talking about.

Now, I just love a beautiful chandelier! Imagine my delight when I started some online research to find out what he was talking about! Believe it or not, all it takes is some fishing line, soda bottles, good scissors, a light, and a base for the top. The base could be some simple hoops for instance. Although it is a fairly easy process, it is time consuming. Still, the results are well worth it!
